Step by Step South African Cocktail Ama Lekkerlicious

Step 1

Dip the Lowball glass (or whiskey glass) into orange sorbet, so that the edges (the area where you will put your lips) are covered with sorbet. If you don’t have orange sorbet, lemon sorbet will work too.

Step 2

Put all the ingredients in a shaker, and shake the contents for a good 15 seconds.

Step 3

Put ice cubes in your glass – the more the merrier.

Step 4

Pour the contents of the shaker into the sorbet-lipped glass.

Step 5

Garnish with orange – a slice of orange or an orange rind twist.

The Story Behind the Drink

The Ama Lekkerlicious (I know it is hard to spell) was created in a quest to find a mixed drink that showcases the modern side of South Afirca – the rainbow nation. Created by Kurt Schlechter, the drink was announced as the FHM Ultimate Brandy Cocktail of the Year in 2001.

To be honest, I think the name will make this a hard drink to really hit the roof. But if you can pronounce Lekkerlicious, you’re in for a good drink!
